| Using The Shop (registering, selecting videos to purchase, paying and downloading files.) After the Download (playing the video files on your computer, laptop, DVD player) About Modern Jive (where can I dance it, what makes it different from other styles) After the Download It plays but I can only hear the sound. There is no video footage! Why do you encode videos in XviD compression? I bunt it to a disk but my DVD player won't play it. What's wrong?
Where is my file? (back to top) When you click on the download link (the green downward arrow) your browser will prompt you to either open the file from where it is or save the file to disk. You must choose, "save to disk". Then you will be prompted to browse through your computer's hard drive and select a location to save that file in. Pick something easy to remember or create a new folder like c:/jivemecrazy dance downloads. Then, as the download progresses the file will be saved in that location. Don't forget that this will take some time. If you use a browser with a download manager like Firefox, you may not see anything in that folder until the download is 100% complete. Be patient. Firefox users can see the download progress by pressing "ctrl + j"
It plays but I can only hear the sound. There is no video footage! (back to top) Jivemecrazy dance download files are encoded in Xvid format. This means that you need to install the Xvid Codec before you will be able to see the video, even though you may be able to hear it. A codec is a code-decode algorithm that helps to make files smaller (see below). You only have to install the XviD codec once. It is safe and is needed to play much online video content on other sites too. You can get the latest version here .
Why do you encode videos in XviD compression? (back to top) The reason why we encode in Xvid is because it yields a drastic reduction in size for the same picture quality. Our high quality dance videos are large enough as it is. If we hadn't compressed them, they'd be up to 5 times the size.
I bunt it to a disk but my DVD player won't play it. What's wrong? (back to top) DVDs are a strange animal. Put a hollywood movie in your drive one day and use windows explorer to see how many files are on it. The structure that most DVD players require to play standard DVDs is quite complicated. If you want to use a standard DVD player to play our dance video files, you'll need to re-encode and re-0author the video data. There are shareware and freeware programs out there that will handle this. Search for "avi to DVD" and you'll have plenty. we do not support these programs. They have their own help services. Alternatively, many newer DVD players now have the ability to play a raw XviD, DivX or mpeg4 file. Take one of Jivemecrazy's dance video lessons on DVD or CD to the store and try before you buy. Once again compatibility issues can be complex. | ||
