The most notable thing about this DVD is the sheer amount of content.
There are 32 different dips taught here categorized as follows:

• Dips from a Left to Right handhold
• Dips from a Right to Right handhold
• Dips from a double handhold
• Dips from a Wurlitzer
• John and Carolyn’s favourites.

This is a workshop disk not a production disk. The sequence is not rehearsed and polished as you might expect from a production disk. After teaching an excellent workshop on these dips, they set up the camera and taught the workshop in summary form for the video. John and Carolyn and marvelous dancers and coreographers with many titles under their belt and they have a very clear and thorough manner of teaching.

HERE'S A PREVIEW

AUDIO: John is wearing a mic but the audio is captured through the camera’s room mic and is therefore a little "echoy".

VIDEO: The camera is slightly tilted throughout and the instruction is single angle only – no close-ups. The video quality is adequate, the background is simple and the lighting is good.

NAVIGATION: The navigation is nothing flashy but easy to get around the disk and find what you’re after. Each category listed above has a sub-menu and each dip has a thumbnail picture in the submenu.

INSTRUCTION: The instruction is fast. Most of the dips are done aT two paces: talk-through and rhythmic. The talk-though is still pretty fast and the instruction is concise. You need to pay careful attention to what you’re seeing to ensure that you comprehend the move and achieve it correctly. Rewind the move and study the location of each hand and foot, each transition. That being said, John spends more time on the earlier dips and many of the finer points of balance, timing and posture are transferable to the remainder of the moves. Still there are 32 dips taught in 23 minutes. All the instruction is done by John.
Each dip varies significantly from the others and you’re sure to find something new with 32 different dips taught.

SUMMARY:
If you’re a stickler for quality, there are some technical issues that may annoy you but they really don’t hinder the usability of this disk. The audio, while a little echoy is still easily understandable. The video quality is adequate. Please watch the preview.

The content is very comprehensive and this is where this disk is very strong. There is so much material here that it will keep you going for years. The speed of that instruction may be too fast for some, but with a little experience, patience and a good use of the rewind button, you should be able to get good use out of this whole disk. Lots of good content for the price.
