Your Teachers

We (Corina and Brent) have been teaching Modern Jive for more than 9 years. We originally learned under Carolyn and John Woodman of Club Jive, who are excellent teachers, dancers and choreographers. Carolyn and John gave us the opportunity to train to become instructors and to learn their excellent and thorough method of instruction.

We have taken what we learned there and developed a style of teaching that is both fun-loving and efficient, yielding satisfaction for our students and a ball of laughs, rhythm and smiles.

We have competed in Modern Jive at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels at both local and national competitions. Our most recent achievement was placing first in advanced level at the Canberra GDS nationals in 2007 and third in the cabaret section of that competition. Dancing together is an important and enjoyable part of our relationship. In dancing we have learned inter-dependence and have enjoyed the masculine and feminine sides of our partnership. Dancing is romantic and yet very physical and so it makes you feel good, keeps you fit and keeps you in love with each other.

We have other creative interests also, including photography, music, furniture restoration and web site design. We find that some of our best friendships are made through dancing. Dancers tend to be people who have gotten over themselves and know how to laugh at themselves. They love music, food and coffee – who doesn’t! Dancers often have an optimistic view of life and are great fun to be around. If you haven’t found this to be true, I hope you’ll come along to our venue and see just how true it is here.
